What Is Live-in Care?

Live-in care means a trained carer moves into your home and supports you through the day, every day. They help with personal care, meals, medication, housework and companionship, and they are there when you need them.

For many families, live-in care is a real alternative to a care home. You keep your own front door, your garden, your pets and your neighbours, with one-to-one support built entirely around you.

Why Families Choose Live-in Care

  • One-to-one attention

Support focused only on you, not shared with other residents.

  • Familiar surroundings

Especially comforting for people living with dementia.

  • Couples stay together

One carer can often support both partners at home.

  • Pets and routines stay

Keep your pets, your hobbies and your daily rhythm.

  • Peace of mind for family

Knowing someone caring is there day to day.

Who Live-in Care Can Help

  • Older adults who need support throughout the day
  • People living with dementia who are safest in a familiar place
  • Adults with physical disabilities or neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's or MS
  • People returning home after a hospital stay who need more than visits
  • Couples who want to stay together at home
  • Anyone receiving palliative care who wishes to remain at home

A Day with a Live-in Carer

  1. Morning

A gentle start, help getting washed and dressed, breakfast and medication.

  2. Late morning

A walk, light housework or a trip to the shops together.

  3. Afternoon

Lunch, a rest and time for hobbies, visitors or a favourite programme.

  4. Evening

Dinner, conversation and help getting ready for a comfortable night.

Every day is shaped around you. This is only an example.

How Live-in Care Works

  • A private room for your carer

Your carer needs their own bedroom with a bed, storage and access to a bathroom.

  • Daily breaks

Carers take a daily break of around two hours to rest and recharge. We help plan cover if you need someone with you during this time.

  • Rest at night

Live-in carers sleep overnight. If you need regular help at night, we can add waking night or sleep-in support.

  • Holiday cover

When your carer takes time off, we arrange a familiar, fully briefed replacement.

Live-in Care or a Care Home?

Both can be the right choice. We will talk you through the options honestly.

Matching You with the Right Carer

Living with someone is personal, so we take matching seriously. We consider personality, interests, experience and the support you need, then introduce you before care begins.
  • Carers matched by personality, experience and compatibility
  • Trained, DBS checked and supported by our Coventry office
  • Regular check-ins and care plan reviews
  • A dedicated contact at our office for you and your family

How Much Does Live-in Care Cost?

Live-in care is usually charged as a weekly fee. The cost depends on the level of support needed and whether care is for one person or a couple. For many people it compares well with a care home, especially for couples. We will give you a clear quote after your free assessment.
